Custom dive trips to the places you think you have been The
Caribbean is famous for amazing dive sites.
Nearly every spot along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan
Peninsula offers at least one opportunity for diving and some offer such
abundance that divers from all over the world flock there for the 100 foot
visibility and the warm tropical seas.
Cozumel is probably the best known of all the sites along the
Mexican Caribbean. With
numerous dive sites and easy boat access, it is a popular location for
diving tourism. The sheer
numbers of divers can make a dive off a typical dive boat seem
overwhelming and overcrowded. This
is the beauty of a personal guide service, as Aqua Maya Divers has
extensive experience on the reefs of Cozumel and knows all the secret
locations where you will be all alone underwater.
Longer bottom time, the opportunity to visit un-visited sites, and
dives that are in tune with your skills and abilities is what a personal
Aqua Maya guide offers you. And
this service is not just exclusively for Cozumel.
We specialize in this sort of service everywhere: Cozumel, Isla
Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, cenotes or wherever your interest is.
You can also improve your skills by taking the next level course. Instruction can be completed in the open water, advanced open
water, rescue diver, and divemaster level.
See instruction for more information. Our favorite places for Scuba diving – Cozumel or anywhere else that there is water! Go to Cozumel Underwater Photos The
Yucatan Pennisula is famous for its extensive cave system. This cave
system is accessible through numerous sink-holes, or cenotes, which dot
the land. Cenote diving is an
amazing experience that requires no special certifications, beyond the
basic open water cert., because an exit is always within site.
All that is requires is the knowledge of a highly certified guide,
a dive light, and good bouyancy.
These caverns are not a place to view amazing sea life, but the
massive caverns filled with stalactite and stalagmite formations are an
impressive sight for any diver. Our favorite place for cenote diving – Dos Ojos near Akumal
Very
few places in the world offer the chance to snorkel with these gentle
beasts. Every year, whale sharks migrate just off the northern coast
of the Yucatan Peninsula making it possible to get up close and personal
with a 40-foot animal. This
is an amazing opportunity that very few locations can offer and our guides
know exactly how to find the whale sharks and take the time to prep you
well for what you will experience and how to act.
We travel to Isla Holbox for the whale shark experience.
This is a small, secluded island paradise with simple charm – no
paved roads in a small town only accessible by boat. Our favorite place for diving/snorkeling with whale sharks – Isla Holbox

If
you are not a diver (or there are non-divers in your group) snorkeling is
another great way to experience the world underwater.
Snorkeling is an activity almost anyone can participate in and
enjoy and is a great way to introduce people to the ocean. In some locations snorkeling is actually preferred over
diving because of the shallow depth or the type of sea life – with the
whale sharks for instance. Our
favorite places for snorkeling – Cozumel and Isla Mujeres Deep
sea fishing off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula and Cozumel is well
known as some of the best deep sea fishing in the world. You spend
either a 1/2 or full day on the boat, relaxing and traveling to fishing
areas. Species commonly found year round are: wahoo, mackerel,
barracuda, amberjack, bonito, snapper, shark. From March - June, you
can also catch blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish (catch and release),
dorado (Mahi Mahi), and tuna.
Ocean
fly fishing is another activity available.
The north side of Cozumel island is known for its excellent fly fishing.
Species in the area include Bone, Snook, Trigger and Permit.
Our guide will take you to the flats in Cozumel where you can catch
any of these species. Trips can be either ˝ or full day.

Even
if you have never before found bird watching fascinating, it is hard to
not get excited about spotting the bill of a wild toucan or standing just
a few feet from thousands of pink flamingos.
Mexico has some of the most amazing bird watching prospects.
With one of the last remaining flamingo roosting grounds, August is
one of the best months to add a trip to Rio Lagartos or Isla Holbox to
your itinerary. The site of
thousands of pink-feathered birds is like no other.
Other areas are rich with toucans and a variety of parrots.
Bird watching trips can either be accomplished by 4-wheel drive
vehicle, bicycle or jungle walks. Our favorite places for bird watching – Rio Lagartos, Isla Holbox, and Majahual / Sian Kaan Nature Reserve
Ready
for a different vantage point? Parasailing
allows you to be pulled up by a boat until you are suspended in the air by
a parachute. As you fly along
behind the boat, more than100 feet in the air, you can appreciate the
crystal blue waters, the white sand beaches and the green jungles of the
peninsula from a whole different point of view. Our
favorite place for parasailing – Playa del Carmen Have
you ever wanted to learn to surf? Why
not add a surf lesson to your custom trip?
We’ll set you up with professional surf instructors on
Cozumel’s “other side” where the wave action is perfect for
beginners. Our surf instructors know these spots well and have been
teaching beginners for several years.
Between catching waves, you can enjoy a lunch of fresh fried fish
or ceviche at a restaurant/bar on the beach. Our
favorite place for surf lessons - Cozumel Bicycle
tours allow you to get up close to the flora and fauna of the area while
getting exercise at the same time. Bicycle
tours are especially great for those who want to see local wildlife, as
birds and animals are often not scared off by the sound of a motor.
You can take a bicycle tour for a little as an hour to as long as
several days – depending upon your interest and desire. Our
favorite place for bicycle tours – Sian Kaan Nature Reserve and around
the island of Cozumel Road-less
jungles have been inviting adventurers for decades, and some of them have
managed to carve a few primitive paths that the average car would not be
able to traverse. Take advantage of these paths by taking a 4-wheel drive
tour through the jungle and even along stretches of empty beaches. Jeep
tours allow an intimate view of the jungle, beaches and animals of the
region.

If
a day on your own private beach appeals to you, then you really do have a
need for a personal guide. Not
only do we specialize in adventures and cultural excursions, we are
experts in the art of relaxation – and we know some of the best place in
Mexico to practice it. Aqua
Maya Divers can take you to a variety of beaches.
Whether you would prefer a resort with a seaside pool and bar, a
small restaurant/bar on the perfect stretch of white sand, or a secluded
beach, far off the beaten track - perfect for just you and your beach
umbrella, we can arrange your relaxation time.
Vacation is supposed to be enjoyable, and although we are happy to
fill every minute of your time with adventure and intrigue, we want you to
thoroughly relax and soak up all the relaxation time you can tolerate. Our
favorite places to enjoy the beach – the “other side” of Cozumel and
near Tulum
