Aqua Maya Divers is a small, innovative company offering custom dive trips to the one of the most popular dive destinations: Mexico. Owner Rolando Fajardo is a certified PADI Instructor with thousands of dives throughout the world. As a fluent English speaker who was born and raised in Mexico, he can provide you the best diving you have ever experienced and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture as only a native can. Because our services are more than just SCUBA, even non-divers will find our trips fascinating.  For groups with non-divers, multiple activities can be arranged for each day to accommodate everyone.

What does our logo represent? 

We are rather proud of our logo, as we believe that it is a fusion of multi-faceted symbolism.  The symbol in the middle of the turtle is the Mayan God Imix, God of the Earth, root of all that follows, all that is in her.  We thought that this was fitting for a company which specializes in trips which combine activities in water and on land.  The design also melds together both ancient and contemporary art.  And we couldn't leave out the sea turtle - an animal who also visits both land and water during its lifetime.

Instruction

Has it been a while since you were underwater?

Perhaps you need to consider a refresher course prior to beginning your adventure.  As a certified PADI instructor, Rolando can provide you with a refresher course on the day of arrival in Mexico .  For individuals residing in Colorado , the refresher course may be available prior to departure.  Take advantage of your personal guide’s expertise and raise your confidence level before taking the plunge into a multi-day vacation.

If you are interested in improving your skills and adding another certification to your credentials, or if a member of your group is not yet certified, consider adding instruction to your custom dive package.  We can provide you with personal, one-on-one instruction for any of the following PADI courses:

Why hire a guide?

Why should you consider a custom guided trip over a typical vacation?  

A typical vacation can be extremely enjoyable - you sit by the beach, visit a couple of places that are advertised all over town, and see a lot of other tourists along the way.  But a custom trip with Aqua Maya Divers is a completely different experience.  With our personal knowledge of the country, the culture and the people, we can take you to places you would never find on your own.  And this service is not just limited to dive sites.  We take you to the cozy restaurants hidden away on back streets where you will have some of the best ethnic food around.  We stop at Mayan ruin sites where the tour buses don't.  We know of local artists' studios where you can purchase their work directly.  The bottom line is that we have an intimate relationship with this area of Mexico and we want to share it with small groups of people who are truly interested in experiencing it all.  That doesn't mean you won't have plenty of time to just relax on the beach, it just means that when you say "I want a beach like this...." we know just where to take you.  You don't have to waste time searching for the right spot, you simply make a request and we provide.

What about Non-Divers?

If your group is mixed with both divers and non-divers, you have all the more reason to hire a guide.  A custom trip with Aqua Maya Divers provides excursions and cultural adventures beyond diving, and we can certainly arrange more than one activity each day so that all members of the group can enjoy.  If the group is large enough to warrant a second guide, we will have one guide in the water and one on land, catering to each half of the group.

What about cost?

You may be surprised at our pricing - especially the diving portion of your trip.  Because we have all the knowledge and necessary permits to operate as a dive operation on the reefs of Cozumel, your costs for these dives can actually be quite a bit less than going through a traditional dive operation in Cozumel.  We don't have the overhead that a traditional dive shop has and can thus operate at a lower cost - and we pass that savings on to you.  

Other excursions may also be less than you would pay if you were to make the arrangements yourself - but you don't have to!  We take care of all that for you and guarantee the quality of the excursions.  This ensures that you won't have to guess about which company is the best to go with, or who will offer you the experience you are looking for - because we have done all that work for you.

About Rolando Fajardo - Biography

Rolando Fajardo, Owner of Aqua Maya Divers, is a certified PADI Scuba Instructor with thousands of dives around the world.  He has completed most of his diving on the reefs of Cozumel, Mexico, where he worked for several years as a divemaster and instructor.  However, he has also logged dives as far away as the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.  A native of Mexico, Rolando currently resides in Colorado and makes regular visits to Mexico. 

Rolando grew up in the Yucatan and then completed a Bachelors of Science in Forest Biology in Michoacan, Mexico.  He then worked as a Forest Guard in many National Parks throughout Mexico, including the Tulum World Heritage Park and the Desert of the Lions National Park near Mexico City.  His desire for travel then led him to many visit all corners of the globe including the US, Europe, Northern Africa, Australia, and Asia.  Traveling and diving are two of his greatest passions.

Rolando is a certified PADI Dive Instructor with current First Aid and Medical First Responder certifications.  He has both the diving skills and experience to guarantee your safety and enjoyment underwater.  He also presents you with the real essence of the culture and an intimate perspective of the land.
